Building an Explicit Therapeutic Alliance
Beyond Rapport Toward Real Clinical Agreement

Clinicians are often told that the therapeutic alliance matters, but they are rarely taught how to build one explicitly. This training helps clinicians distinguish rapport from alliance and develop the clinical frame clients need when therapy becomes uncomfortable, charged, or difficult.

Participants will learn how to name the purpose of therapy clearly, establish shared expectations with clients, and help clients understand that honesty about the therapeutic process itself is part of the work. The training is designed for clinicians across modalities who want to move beyond a good relationship and create an alliance strong enough to support meaningful psychological change.
