The Clinical Effectiveness Institute partners with organizations that want to deepen how clinicians assess, formulate, and respond to complex clinical material.

CEI training focuses on the thinking that organizes intervention. Participants learn to recognize what is happening while the work is unfolding, develop a clearer understanding of what may be organizing a client’s difficulties, assess what the client can use, and calibrate their participation accordingly.

Programs may be offered virtually or in person. Longer engagements can combine teaching, clinical cases, guided discussion, and structured opportunities for participants to apply CEI’s questions to their own work.

CEI’s Approach

CEI teaches across modalities. The aim is to strengthen the clinical capacities that clinicians use before, during, and after selecting an intervention.

Participants learn to ask:

What is happening here?
What is this material showing me?
What may be organizing this client’s experience?
What can this client recognize, tolerate, and use now?
How is the therapeutic relationship participating in the process?
What would meaningful change look like?
How will we evaluate whether the work is helping?

CEI programs give clinicians language and structure for thinking through these questions together. The goal is a more deliberate, responsive, and clinically accountable practice of psychotherapy.
